Pleasants (Dick) is born in Boston.

The son of Richard and Helen (Ewing) Pleasants, Dick Pleasants grows up in Groton, graduates from Emerson College, and goes on to become a popular folk radio host, first on Cape Cod and the South Shore, then in Boston at WGBH in 1978* and WUMB. Known for his warm, low-key style, he also becomes a concert promoter and champion of local performers, including Patty Larkin, who once declares, “[People ask] ‘What’s with Boston being a huge Mecca for singer-songwriters?’ And Dick Pleasants helped make that difference.” A long-time resident of Concord, Pleasants dies there on November 8, 2022.
